The CISCo. it was founded by the Chamber of Commerce and the Port Authority of Genoa in 1967, coinciding with the advent of the first containerized traffic in the Mediterranean (and in particular in the port of Genoa). The associative structure of CISCo. it has been enriched over time through the participation - alongside institutional subjects - of some of the most important national private operators operating in the field of transport and logistics. In its fifty years of activity, the CISCo. he has promoted numerous international conferences, conventions, debates and publications. There were about a hundred meeting opportunities through which the CISCo. gathered the most sensitive national and foreign operators around the emerging themes of containerization and intermodalism, including - alongside the traditional instrument of conferences and conventions - also the organization of targeted missions and study trips abroad. On the editorial side, the CISCo. he edited the publication of 13 specialized monographs on some important technical aspects of containerized traffic, for the benefit of scholars and operators in the sector. The CISCo. it also publishes its own Newsletter, on a monthly basis, which has reached its 21st year and collects the most significant news from sector publications on international transport issues. During 2002, the Heads of the Council (starting with the Founders, the Chamber of Commerce and the Port Authority of Genoa) felt the need for a review of the statutory profile and the sphere of intervention of the CISCo .: a new statute was thus launched ; a new associative reason was identified (the current “Council of Intermodal Shipping Consultants”), conferring on the CISCo. greater operational and decision-making streamlining and allowing it to update its mission in the changed context of increasingly globalized and intermodal transport.
