6 aspects that impact your shipping container price
Container size
Generally speaking, container prices increase with the size of the box. Although – take note – a 40ft box is only about 20-30% more than a 20ft box. So, it goes without saying, it’s often better value for money to go for a 40ft container.
Container condition
Do you need a one-trip container? Or does a cargo-worthy container fit your needs? A used container can save you a lot of money, compared to a brand-new one.
Geographical location
The cost of containers in specific locations varies depending on supply and demand. The current economic situation and the price of steel in a region can have a huge effect on container prices.
Sourcing channel
Hidden margins and extra costs? Your sourcing channels decide what you pay. Expand your channels and get more competitive prices. xChange also helps you find containers you can’t find in your current sourcing channels.
Cost of delivery
Going for the right supplier is important, as delivery fees can add up to more than the container cost itself! Prices vary depending on distance, number of containers, and delivery time.
Container demand
The demand for containers widely impacts container prices. That’s why it’s crucial to know where the competition is highest or lowest. Know where to source boxes with the Container Availability Index.
